FRUITS, GIFTS AND SIGNS

Gal5:16-25 Show these vrs to show the contrast between works of the flesh and the Fruit of the Spirit

Ephesians 5:7-11 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

The works of the Flesh (17) are a natural outcome of the Adamic nature

The Fruit of the Spirit is the work of the Holy Spirit in the Believer

The Fruit of the Spirit is singular not plural      It is not produced in us by our own effort    And or will power

* It is the outcome of a yielded life

If there is fruit demonstrated in a Christian life There is evidence of a death to self

Galatians 5:24-25 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

* We need to have a funeral tonight        And die to self   to the world

Let the Spirit of God do a work in us that here to for we have prevented

We need to die    And re-die     And re-die    Victory   new sin arises

Gal 5:22-23

LOVE A burden and compassion for others that goes beyond emotion

TEMPERANCE Self-Control     Discipline

It was previously stated that this fruit of the Spirit is produced by the Holy Spirit himself

The Evidence of the Fruit of the Spirit in a Christian’s life should be their greatest desire       Everything else will be in it’s proper priority

This is contrary to contemporary Christianity

Which has taken on the philosophy of the world, to get all you can get promote self     Show yourself to be in expendable to God and to the church Show how spiritual you are      See how many gift I have

With that being said:   we will move on to the Gifts

Gifts were given to the church so it could function.

Each member is given an opportunity to contribute to the function of the Body of Christ (the church)

The Church in Corinth put an inordinate value on some gifts and minimized others to elevate themselves in the sight of the brethren

Prefer the Fruit

The more of the Fruit of the Spirit is manifest in you the better you will be able to handle the ego of the Gifts

Don’t get me wrong Gifts are not bad.

It is the Philosophy and mind set of Christians which has placed to much emphasis on the Gifts    They become the focus the aim and desire
